Members of North Tyneside’s voluntary and community sector have been working with local artists to unearth and share fascinating stories of life on Howard Street in North Shields.
The work is being delivered as part of the wider High Street Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) project which forms part of North Tyneside Council’s ambitious master plan to transform North Shields town centre and riverside.
As part of the VODA-led partnership, we are delivering three Make It Happen volunteer programmes for people and community groups to work alongside professional artists to co-produce arts and cultural events inspired by the heritage of North Shields.
Delivered through a series of bespoke workshops, participants can learn how to plan, do and review their own community art projects.
Sessions will cover ideas development, programme planning, management and coordination, artist recruitment and management, budget, and controls, monitoring and evaluation.
Each Make It Happen programme will culminate in a celebration and showcase event held in the North Shields Heritage Action Zone.
