Make It Happen

We began our young person-led Make It Happen in April 2022. We worked with students from John Spence Community High School over eight weeks and participants formed ideas for a project set in the Georgian Era. Researching the era as they went, participants developed skills in artist recruitment, sticking to a budget and the type of roles involved in project planning.

Having completed the training, group members have since put their new skills and ideas into action, working with local artists to bring their event to life.

Georgian Cluedo

Working alongside director and scriptwriter Debbie Beeks, the young people spent time developing individual characters and a plot for their Georgian inspired performance. Crafting short narratives, the young people researched various parts of their scripts to ensure the information was historically accurate as well as fun for audiences.

The young people rehearsed the performance and planned their marketing and social media They performed their 30-minute Georgian Cluedo show at The Exchange Theatre in North Shields in the heart of the Heritage Action Zone.

Putting on three consecutive shows on the 11th December 2022, the young people donned their costumes, transformed the theatre and were joined by local actor Jackie Phillips as Dolly wowing their audiences!
