A participant’s journey to performing at The Guest!

Since the summer, our Falling on Your Feet dance group has been resolutely rehearsing for their performance, opening at The Guest, a piece of choreography by Anthony Lo Giudice, which will be performed at North Shields Fish Quay in October 2025.

Participant and performer Ann shares with us her feelings about the process and her pre-show expectations!

“Anthony started us off with a gestural piece that taxed our aged brains somewhat, but in no time at all we got it, and then the whole routine took off. We all enjoyed contributing suggestions, ideas and improvisations. Instantly, we were involved, invested and engaged.

Normally we build our routines at a slower pace and tweak the choreography week by week, developing an initial theme as we go along, but the speed at which we worked together with Anthony, sculpting it all together, was amazing.

Considering what we’ve produced in such a short period of time with Anthony, I really feel this production is going to be incredible.

I’m very excited for Saturday’s performance, so wanting to ensure I get everything right but am desperate to see the reaction of the audience. I think it’s going to be remarkable.”

I just keep thinking, “Oh wow, what a privilege to be part of the pre-performance of The Guest!”

“Our dance group ‘Falling on Your Feet’ has had the honour, not only of working with Anthony Lo Guidice and musician and songwriter Bridie Jackson, but of being invited to play an integral part in creating lyrics and dance choreography/performance. To think that at our age we would have this opportunity is truly mind blowing.

Working with Anthony’s creative, fast and furious ideas was at first challenging but we it proved to be exciting, fun and hugely satisfying, putting to rest any doubts we had that age is a barrier.

Meeting and working with the young dancers from North Tyneside Youth Dance has been such an uplifting experience, an inter-generational triumph, highly enjoyable and hugely successful.

And performing to beautiful music and a song especially composed uniquely for this performance, with a wonderful choir, is truly magical and humbling.

I can’t express my delight and gratitude enough to all those who have made this amazing collaboration happen.”
