In 2023, Helix Arts will deliver an exciting programme of workshops in which local people can co-design two public artworks in North Shields town centre.
The sites are in front of North Shields Magistrates Court and on the land next to the traffic lights at Borough Road/ Prudhoe Street junction.
The commissions are part of North Tyneside Council’s masterplan for North Shields which will see a total of 5 new public artworks created. We will commission a local artist to work with residents in schools and various community spaces throughout Spring 2023. The workshops will explore what people think is important in North Shields’ past, present and future.
We will be working with London-based Street Art organisation Wood Street Walls to deliver the project alongside Canadian artist Aaron Li Hill.
