Helix Arts were commissioned by VODA on behalf of North Tyneside Council Public Health to work towards a sharing exhibition in 2022. We were keen to focus on hearing seldom-heard voices to add to the stories that had already been collected by VODA.

Film and animator – Robin Webb, Textile artist – Melanie Kyles and Visual Artist – Beth Ross each posed one of our three progressive questions about people’s experience of the pandemic while holding short creative workshops with participants.

Lindsay Hannon roved around groups to draw from experiences that will be post-produced into a song.

Illustrator, Josie Brooks visually scribed conversations at the event. The artworks highlights, challenges, themes and future prospects with respect to Covid-19.

Artists will form creative responses alongside participants which will contribute to an exhibition in 2022.

North Tyneside are calling for people to contribute to their commemoration on the Waggonway network

North Tyneside Council want you to have your say on the Waggonway Covid-19 commemoration artwork, which will be a lasting memorial and create places to connect.
