Bill Quay Farm

2015

Participants of Make Art Happen from Bill Quay Farm aimed to create a visual arts project for the local community.

Partners:

Bill Quay Farm & stArt

Working in partnership with Hertfordshire House, the Bill Quay Farm team arranged a series of community workshops open to families from across the area to get involved in creating mosaics as a form of public artworks.

Inspired by the nature and/or local history around them, the Make Art Happen team wanted to provide the opportunity for those who had previously not engaged in art activities to try something new and get creative.

All the artwork created was then displayed around the farm for visitors to experience the mosaics throughout their visit.

A total of 10 artworks, the mosaic pieces which were created includes:

  • Bee’s
  • Butterflies
  • Pigs
  • Woodpeckers
  • Pond Creatures

“Make Art Happen is an extremely useful course if interested in community and arts programmes (or just community projects as the skills could transfer to non-arts projects), intense and comprehensive, good for beginners or non-beginners in the sector as everyone can bring their own knowledge/experience and take from it what they want, and enjoyable.”

“I saw MAH as a chance to gain new skills, friends and experiences whilst making up my mind about career choices and future job prospects.”
