What is winter wellbeing?

Winter Wellbeing are a series of one-off creative workshops which take place on an evening. Designed to help beat the winter blues and allow North Tyneside residents who are unable to access our daytime programme to take time out for their wellbeing.

Winter 2025

Local residents had the chance to explore a whole mix of artforms during our Winter Wellbeing workshops, bringing creativity, calm, and connection into the colder months.

Working alongside artists Corrine Lewis Ward, Amanda Quinn, and Rita Griskonyte, participants got hands‑on with three very different creative experiences:

  • Coaster and Bookmark Design & Engraving – Participants slowed down and sketched intricate patterns, playful motifs, and personal designs, which were later etched onto their finished coasters and bookmarks.
  • Life Letters – Through gentle writing prompts, participants reflected on the places, people, and memories that shaped them. From tiny everyday joys to big life moments, they explored how to turn personal stories into expressive, heartfelt writing.
  • Fused Glass Workshop – Using bright shards of coloured glass, participants pieced together miniature landscapes and abstract designs. They experimented with composition and colour, transforming simple fragments into artworks full of light and character.

All the workshops were completely free and offered a welcoming space for people to unwind, try something new, and enjoy the wellbeing boost that comes from making art together.
