Mindful Maps is a multi arts project with young adults aged 16-25. Participants will work with an arts practitioner to co-create a new wellbeing trail in Chopwell Wood that responds to the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic on the community’s mental health.
Helix Arts are working in partnership with Forestry England & Friends of Chopwell Wood to deliver workshops with young adults aged 16-25 in the Chopwell area resulting in the co-creation of a new wellbeing trail in Chopwell Woods.
The project will be led by Tommy Anderson whose visual arts practice combines typography, aerosol art, illustration, photography and collage. Tommy will work with a group of young adults from the local area to devise a trail with a number of stations at which arts experiences will take place. The group will be part of the process from initial idea and conception to trail launch.
The project is designed to encourage social connections, rebuilding confidence post-Covid. It will take place from July 2021 – October 2021 with taster workshops, delivery phase, installation and trail launch.
Mindful Maps is funded by Well Newcastle Gateshead.
