A handmade fabric banner with a deep maroon background and small white patterns hangs on a wall. Bright blue letters spell out “Unity in our Community,” with the words “in” and “our” displayed on green patches bordered in gold. Two additional green patches feature red hearts outlined in gold. A light blue decorative strip runs horizontally across the banner. In the background, another colorful fabric banner is visible but out of focus. Image credit. About Common Ground

This year’s conference is an opportunity for people working across creative health, culture, health and wellbeing, and related fields to come together for three days of learning, connection, nourishment and support.

The theme for 2026 is Common Ground. Together, attendees will explore how they can build stronger relationships across sectors, disciplines and communities to create the deep and lasting systemic change that is needed now more than ever.

Through inspiring talks, practical sessions and shared conversations, attendees will learn from people within our own field and beyond about what it takes to work collectively towards a healthier and more equitable future.

You can view the full programme here or listen to the audio version here.

Wednesday 7 October to Friday 9 October 2026,

The Civic, Barnsley.

About the bursary

We warmly encourage proposals from freelance or low-income creative practitioners working across arts, health and education settings, and those who are often excluded from access, visibility and leadership within the cultural and health sectors.

This can include people of diverse racial and cultural heritages, LGBTQ+ communities, Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent people, people living with long-term health conditions, and younger people.

Applications will be assessed by the Culture, Health & Wellbeing Alliance.

The successful bursary recipient will receive:

  • One free ticket to the conference (for all 3 days or any combination), including food and refreshments as part of the catering offer
  • A £250 stipend – this can be used for whatever the practitioner needs – e.g. travel, accommodation, or to cover their time
