Louder is a young people’s peer education arts project delivered by Helix Arts in partnership with Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland.

What is Louder?

Louder is a  creative peer education programme where young people engaged in conversations surrounding sexual assault and domestic abuse. Collaborating with young people in North Tyneside from Phoenix Detached Youth Project and YMCA North Shields to create a suite of films and resources to share with other young people.

The aim of  the resources which they created is to challenge assumptions around sexual and domestic violence for young people aged 14 – 18 through facilitated workshops using the film and engagement activities.

Impact

Through Louder we have:

  • Provided young people a chance to co-produce their own films & scripts
  • Worked with 13 young people
  • Produced 5 films
  • Created an engagement pack to support facilitation

We are proud to announce the project has also won a North East Culture Award for Special Award for Young Achievement at the 2022 awards.
