Collaborating with local partners Artists’ Agency North Shields provides networking and bespoke mentoring opportunities to local creatives and organisations.

Artists’ Agency North Shields offers bespoke support for creatives living and/ or working across North Tyneside as part of the North Shields Cultural Quarter.

Artists’ Agency is Helix Arts’ artist development programme. Our new programme in North Tyneside will build upon our previous Artists’ Agency North Shields offer.

During the last Artists’ Agency programme, we listened to over 70 artists and creative businesses, found out about the challenges faced by freelance artists and small creative businesses, and have created a participant centred, flexible and responsive programme with this in mind.

Artists’ Agency North Shields Opportunities

Artists’ Agency are offering a range of opportunities for artists to continue their professional development. These will include:

  • Networking events & CPD workshops: programmed responsively with your needs in mind.
  • 1-1 Mentoring: carefully matched based on your goals with bursaries available.
  • CoCafe’s: a monthly informal peer support network for sharing, collaborating and problem solving.
  • Plus more to be announced soon.

We’ll be announcing the new programme soon, so watch this space. Be the first to find out more by coming along to our Artists’ Afternoon next week on 20 June 2024 and join our mailing list to get the monthly Artists’ Agency Newsletter.

Current Opportunities

Artists’ Agency North Shields 1-1 Mentoring Opportunities

Artists’ Agency is back with more 1-1 mentoring opportunities for artists and small creative businesses living and/ or working in North Tyneside.

Hit a creative roadblock?

Got a challenge you just don’t know how to approach?

Bursting with ideas but need a little guidance to make them happen?

A mentor could help with that!

1:1 Mentoring

One to one mentoring is tailored to meet the needs of the individuals. This may be reviewing current skills and career to date, creative practice or examining future development goals.

You’ll get a micro-mentoring session with someone from the Helix Arts team then each mentee is matched with a mentor who can support their specific requirements and coaching plans are developed with wellbeing check-ins embedded throughout.

There are some bursaries available to support mentees.

We anticipate that 1:1 Mentoring will be 3 initial sessions with your mentor (this may be flexible based on the goals that you identify) plus some time for reflecting/working on your mentoring plan between sessions.

Who are the mentors for this programme?

Mentors will be creative industry experts with specific expertise that align with your needs. Some of the mentors will be part of the Helix Arts’ Team who have been offering artist development and mentoring for almost 40 years, external mentors will come from a range of sectors and backgrounds.

Once we have matched you to a mentor, we will let you know the mentor we are proposing and our reasons for matching you.

When is this opportunity open until?

We are accepting applications into our 1-1 mentoring programme and assessing them on a rolling basis between 28.06.24 and 01.08.24

We will be offering 1-1 mentoring support on a rolling basis between now and March 2027 so more opportunities to apply for mentoring will be released later in the year too.
