A collaborative dance programme between Helix Arts, Pell Ensemble and young dancers from the Tees Valley. Supported by investment from the Foyle Foundation, Creative Darlington, ARC and Arts Council England.
Upload/Unplug is an innovative and interactive digital dance project, where the audience provide data and decide what happens to ‘David’ at the end of the piece. It explores themes around privacy, the use of our data and how we share our thoughts online. As well as sharing the performance with audiences new to dance in the region Helix are co-producing an inclusive dance outreach programme where young dancers from Stockton and Darlington get to work alongside Pell’s Artistic Director Rebecca Evans and other professional dance artists to co-create a ‘curtain-raiser’ performance. These co-productions will be shared with family, friends and the public alongside Upload/Unplug in community and arts venues.
The next performance of Upload/Unplug is Friday 2 Nov at Crown St Gallery, Darlington at 7pm. Tickets are free, but limited - you can reserve a ticket from Crown St Library in person or over the phone on 01325 462034.
