Status Manual / Map of Homelessness

[UK-wide] 2008 - 2009

The Status Manual is a unique A-Z to UK status developed by internationally renowned artist Heath Bunting. The project is of interest to Helix Arts because of shared interest in the many ways socially engaged arts practice can benefit the lives of people with low status in society; including people in the criminal justice system, those experiencing homelessness and mental health problems.

During 2008/09 Helix Arts supported Heath to publish and distribute the 1st edition of the Status Manual, together with a Map of Homelessness, in an attempt to improve access to services for people experiencing homelessness.

On Thursday 10 July 2008 a stakeholder consultation event took place at Crisis Skylight in Newcastle upon Tyne providing an opportunity for people to view the map and contribute to its future development.

The Status Manual Book entitled 0-9 The System Deluxe, together with a specially commissioned essay, was launched at Crisis Skylight in Newcastle upon Tyne on 12 February 2009. Copies are available from our Publications page.
